About

Hi – and welcome to my blog!

First, English is NOT my native language, so bear with my spellings and grammars. However I´d like to keep my blog as well written as possible, so I have included an error reporting tool in the pages. Mark the error with the cursor, tap <Ctrl> + <Enter> and the tool opens for your suggestions. Thanks in advance for your efforts on reporting.

I am the guy who always loved engineering, science and understanding stuff. When others read novels, I read product pamphlets, manuals and reviews, as well as Popular Mechanics, Absolute Sound, Barrere´s Rocket Propulsion, service manuals, the Perfect Gardener and other technical and educational materials. Luckily,  school forced me to read the classic novels too, so I am not a total nerd….

The last 30 years or so, I have worked as a self-employed teacher and consultant in industry, with rational methods in decision analysis and problem-solving. I love to understand how things work and explain it to others! I love solving problems, finding their root causes and implement corrections.

I sometimes write for a Swedish lifestyle blog, mainly about beers, science and technical stuff.

My interest for HiFi awoke with a Revox A77 HS, a Sansui Eight amp and a pair of homebuilt “quarter wave pipes” in 1972, then developed further with influences of people like Philip von Krusenstierna (previous owner of the Stockholm HiFi shop Sontec), Roger Sperrling (Swedish HiFi guru of the 70ies and 80ies) and Jan-Eric Persson (Owner and producer of the HiFi-record label Opus3 as well as Blumlein recording guru).

This interest then reemerged this January, when I suddenly had an affordable chance, to replace my somewhat bulky Altec Valencias as my main loudspeakers, for the only pair I considered exchanging them for – as my wife hates big speakers 😉 –  a pair of Klipsch Palladiums.  Always preferring the “attack” of easily driven loudspeakers.

Today I am listening to my old Altec Valencias (soon to be exchanged for the Palladiums),  a Velodyne 18″ sub and an amp with basic “Digital Room Correction”. The Palladiums need not much correction,  the Altecs, the sub and the room does!

Therefore I continue to keep an eye on “Digital Room Correction”, a complicated field to understand and being kept updated on. Perhaps more of You HiFi-enthusiasts out there, have the same feeling?

So I decided to start this blog. To explain the technology behind DRC, review products using it and make recommendations to my readers.

Welcome to the journey dear followers, making your system sounding like a million bucks too!

Yours truly

Christian “Nisken” Nissen

This is my first blog. All my blogs are listed below.

  1. www.drc.one was my first blog, it is about getting Your HiFi-system sounding “like a million bucks” by signalcorrection with inverse digital filters, today common in many better amps. In English.
  2. www.rationellametoder.se this is my business site, dealing with rational methods for problem-, decision-, risk- and situation-analysis, nowdays converted into a blog. In Swedish.
  3. www.rationell-riskhantering.one promoting quantitative riskanalysis in aworld full of risks! In Swedish.
  4. www.radonbloggen.one dealing with the problems of radioactive radongas in indoor air and private waterwells. In Swedish.
  5. www.nedisusersblog.com gathering users of Nedis IOT-products, like cameras, sensors, powerplugs in a forum. In English.
  6. www.tyuausersblog.com gathering users of Tuya IOT-products, Nedis is an OEM-buyer of these as are others as Qlima (heat pumps). THIS blog is therefore much broader. In English.
  7. www.solpanelerochbatterilager.se A “one stop shop” for knowledge about solar energy, energy storage (battery tanks) and solar economy for everyone. In Swedish, but Google translate works quite well for this blog. Probably the broadest and deepest in the world!
  8. www.lidingo-civil.se Lidingö Civilförsvarsförening, the link between the military defence of Sweden and the local civil society. In swedish.

  1. This Sperrling character, didnt he build large black bass horns? Think i see articel on that long ago? Is DRC good against horn coloration to?

    1. You remember rightly Vlad. Roger Sperrling produced large bass horns in the 80-ies, there were several finishes including black.

For sure DRC can improve the coloration of horns, as well as most types of linear distortion.

  2. There is no such thing as “too large” loudspeakers – there’s just too small rooms 😉

  3. Applauding Your effort! One place that tries to gather all, technical background, tests, suggestions and discussion.

Keep it up Christian and all the best for the future now!
